Whitsun Bank Holiday week is once again Boat Fire Safety Week 2014 promoted by the Dept for Communities & Local Government’s, Fire Kills campaign with the help of the Boat Safety Scheme.
Many fire and rescue services are participating including districts in London Fire Brigade, Greater Manchester FRS and West Midlands FRS as well as Hampshire Fire and Rescue service that may have the single biggest population of pleasure craft for any fire authority in England and Wales.
There are many other fire authorities and individual fire stations participating and the week again has the support of the MCA, the RNLI and the Royal Yachting Association
The BSS has already distributed over 32,000 boat fire safety and the same number of carbon monoxide safety leaflets to marinas, harbours, ports, navigation authorities and fire services this month in anticipation of the interest.
We hope you can join in the online and social media campaign to increase boaters understanding of fire and CO risks when they are aboard their boats.
