1. Volunteer Management Policy

1.1 Purpose

To ensure fair, consistent, and supportive management of volunteers, recognising their vital contribution to The Boating Association.

1.2 Recruitment

We are committed to:

  • Equal opportunities for all applicants
  • Clear role descriptions
  • Informal interviews or discussions to match skills and interests
  • Appropriate background checks where required (e.g., safeguarding roles)

1.3 Induction and Training

All volunteers will receive:

  • An introduction to the organisation and its values
  • Relevant training for their role
  • Health and safety guidance

1.4 Support and Supervision

Volunteers will:

  • Have a named point of contact
  • Receive regular feedback and support
  • Be encouraged to share ideas and concerns

1.5 Expenses

Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed in line with agreed procedures.

1.6 Equality and Inclusion

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where all volunteers feel respected and valued.

1.7 Ending Volunteering

Volunteers may leave at any time. The organisation may also end a volunteer arrangement if necessary, ensuring this is handled fairly and respectfully.

1.8 Policy Review
All policies will be reviewed annually or as required to ensure they remain effective and compliant with relevant regulations.
