Promoting the waterways, supporting tourism, welcoming newcomers and helping people discover what the region has to offer.

The Boating Association (TBA) looks after your interests with regards to:

  • Safety on Britain’s rivers & connecting canals
  • Boat Safety Scheme (BSS)
  • Legal Matters- Licensing- NA Disputes- Rallies etc
  • Adequate home base moorings at reasonable costs
  • Adequate touring/leisure moorings & hook up facilitates
  • Acceptable Lock manning levels & timing
  • Adequate waterways staffing & maintenance
  • Help & Advice on navigation & boating issues
  • Improve navigation
  • Increase boating numbers using our designated network

The Boating Association are members of the following groups/committees:

  • BSS Advisory Committee
  • CRT National Advisory Forum
  • Parliamentary Waterways Forum
  • CRT National Users Group
  • National Inland Navigation Forum
  • Various local user groups
  • We consult on a regular basis with all Major Waterways Associations
  • We maintain contact with York City, Boston, Nottingham & Newark Councils on several matters of concern including, planning issues, trip boats, loss of amenities etc
  • We are actively involved in various planning application items which could affect boating.
