Lock Safe Passage

Due to recent issues with navigating locks on the River Trent in drought and low water conditions causing normal silting to be exacerbated, we have produced in conjunction with CRT diagrams on how to navigate those problematic locks.

The MET office have stated that the future is likely to include more drought summers and navigation for boaters can include those hours which are outside of those hours where locks are manned by CRT and so these are aimed at assisting with safe passage where there may be issues.

Our Simple Advice

All buoys move on a regular basis as do sandbars and gravel. Only transit problematic locks when the CRT Lock-Keepers are on duty as they will give you the most up to date advice on the day!

CRT sent us the information below and so we had to keep the colour markings as per their communication in order not to confuse. This is how we would show the interpretation in our charts above.
